PLAYWRIGHT: "Aloha Also Means Goodbye"

"Aloha Also Means Goodbye"
Copyright, 2005

The City of Vista, California Urban Renewal Townsite Partnership hired me to write a play for use as a fundraiser. It was a Luau Theme and based on the concept of Mystery Theater.
The audience participated to demystify this "murder" scenario. The suspected culprit was a pretty waitress and the audience had to figure out why and how she committed the crime. In the process, I wanted the audience to be able to contribute twice to the coffers of this genuine cause (after paying for admission). So I created another character, a young waiter who was her boyfriend and taking up a collection from the audience for her "Defense Fund". It was fun to write and gratifying to know where the funding was going.
