PLAYWRIGHT: "Weightlessness!!"
SEE WWW.WEIGHTLESSNESS.BIZ
The play is based on my book, titled, "Hitting The Pavement: A Journalists's 2-Year Memoir of Homelessness". It is in particular based on a Journal I kept while living (three times) at a winter-only shelter. "Weightlessness!!" is a two-act play that depicts living in a shelter. It takes place in a typical shelter women's dorm in the weeks leading up to the shelter closing date of March 31st!!. And the tension mounts when the audience realizes that some of the women still have nowhere to go. The title is a fitting one for the homeless because it best describes how it feels to be homeless. Because, without a permanent address, they can't vote in local elections, they can't send their children to just any schools, they have no credit, no property, (as a rule) no steady income; and, for the most part, no rights to any opinions. In other words, they are "Weightless" so their play is titled, "Weightlessness!!".
